Interpreting Witness Testimony (Spanish only)

Saturday June 27, 2026 12 pm – 3 pm MT

The workshop focuses on the challenges of and best practices for interpreting witness testimony on the record. It is divided in two parts: direct and cross examination. Each section begins with an overview of the types of questions allowed (e.g. leading, narrative, etc.). This information is important as it allows interpreters to anticipate the format of the question. In each section participants will practice with an audio of a mock examination, followed by a discussion regarding note-taking v memory and requesting clarifications and repetitions. The final section uses three short audios to further explore impeachment and leading questions and working with interruptions. You can see a sample of the class materials here.
